Job Title 1: Orthopedic Physical Therapy Research Program Director
Job Location: Howard Head Sports Medicine Clinic, Vail, Colorado
Job Summary: This position is searching for an individual with both a
PhD and PT degree to work 50% in research and 50% in clinical therapy.
Individuals with post-PhD degree research experience desired.
Collaboration and joint appointments at the Steadman Hawkins Research
Foundation in Vail, Colorado affords an excellent opportunity to direct
and conduct research across a broad area of interests. In this unique
position, you will have access to a large patient population, resident
therapists, as well as experts, equipment and facilities in Biomechanics
and Clinical Research Departments of the Steadman Hawkins Research
Foundation. Additional responsibilities will include mentoring and
professional development of staff therapists as well as being a faculty
member in our Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program. Benefits

Job Title 2: Orthopedic Physical Therapy Research Associate
Job Location: Howard Head Sports Medicine Clinic, Vail, Colorado
Job Summary: This position is searching for an individual with both a
PhD and PT degree to work 50% in research and 50% in clinical therapy.
New graduates with advanced training and/or experience in clinical
outcomes, epidemiology, protocol enhancement/evaluation and statistical
design desired. This position works in association with the Orthopedic
Physical Therapy Research Program Director to conduct research in
conjunction with physicians at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic and with
researchers at the Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation in Vail,
Colorado. This position affords an excellent opportunity to conduct
research across a broad area of interests. In this unique position, you
will have access to a large patient population, resident therapists, and
experts in Biomechanics and Clinical Research. Additional
responsibilities will include mentoring and professional development of

Primary Responsibilities for both positions:
* Outpatient orthopedics: patient care - 50% time; Patient care
is 100% sports medicine/orthopedics; primarily knee, hip, shoulder,
hand/wrist/elbow and ankle case load - working closely with onsite
orthopedic surgeons and Fellows at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic. This
position is responsible for evaluation and assessment of patients
referred to the center, formulation of specific plans of treatment and
goals for each patient. With physician input, implementation of the
physical therapy services defined in the patient care plan; Persons
with experience or dedicated training in sports medicine and with
professional athletic populations desired.
* Positional duties will also include participation is an SCS
residency program.
* Research & Program Development - 50% time; conduct relevant
research in the areas of musckuloskeletal mechanics and clinical
outcomes related to physical therapy clinical protocols; serve as
research coordinator between clinic and professional research staff of
the Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation in Biomechanics and
Epidemiology; conduct a focused line of research in clinical therapy
related to protocol enhancement and validation; freedom to develop
specific research topics will be determined by the clinic director and
interests/qualifications of the candidate with potential topics
including: return to sport validation testing for knee, hip and shoulder
injuries, clinical evaluation of treatment and outcomes of conservative
rehabilitation protocols, development and validation of clinical hip
evaluations (specificity and sensitivity analyses); development of
community clinics (such as obesity/weight loss clinics, healthy aging
clinics, little league and professional baseball, hockey, skiing, etc...
injury prevention clinics); collaborate and assist in a wide variety of
other projects related to work currently being conducted by the Steadman
Hawkins Research Foundation staff;
* Publish in scholarly-refereed journals; present at relevant
national and international conferences;
* Develop research program to attract external funding.
* Collaborate with Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation staff
in external
funding and grant writing initiatives;
* Participate in service activities through committee work and
other activities;
Professional Qualifications:
1. PT licensure required at the time of application; eligible for
licensure in state of Colorado
2. Evidence of research productivity and/or potential
3. Experience in publication process desirable
4. Experience in presenting research works at national/international
conferences
