    "Biomechanics for Computer Integrated Medicine"

    Applications are now open for the China Scholarship Council - UWA joint PhD
    Scholarships. These scholarships provide tuition fee scholarships for Chinese
    students from the 985 Progam Chinese universities to undertake PhD study
    at UWA, commencing in 2007. To be eligible, candidates must be citizens
    and residents of the People's Republic of China.

    UWA will provide successful candidates with tuition fee scholarships and
    the China Scholarship Council will provide them with living allowances
    of $15 600 per annum for up to four years. Intelligent Systems for Medicine
    Laboratory will provide $6000 per year top-up scholarships for outstanding
    candidates.

    The China Scholarship Council requires that candidates apply in the
    first instance to UWA for the tuition fee scholarship and then to the
    China Scholarship Council for the living allowance. The deadline for
    applications to the China Scholarship Council is 20th March.

    The deadline for applications to UWA is 9th February, and the process of
    ranking and confirmation of top-up funding will be complete by 12 March
    in time for the selection round in China. Offers from UWA will be
    conditional on the candidate also receiving a living allowance from the
    China Scholarship Council.

    areas of soft tissue biomechanics, surgical simulation, medical robotics,
    injury biomechanics, sport biomechanics and numerical methods. We actively
    collaborate with the most reputable institutions in the world, such as
    Harvard, Cambridge and AIST Labs. in Japan. Every research student at our
    Laboratory has an opportunity to work at these destinations.
    Intelligent Systems for Medicine Laboratory belongs to the best funded
    research centres within the School of Mechanical Engineering, with grants
    from Australian Research Council and National Institute of Health (USA).

    Three positions are available immediately. Candidates with a Bachelor degree
    or equivalent in any area of Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer
    Science, Neuroscience, Anatomy, Medicine or other related fields are
    encouraged to apply. Experience with finite element analysis, image analysis
    or graphics hardware would be a distinct advantage.
