Dear subscribers
The organising committee has decided to extend the deadline for paper
submission to the international seminar on "Prediction and evaluation
of THR performance: can we plan success?", organised in Leuven
(Belgium), June 22nd-23th, 2007.
Contributed papers are now invited before Monday 2007-04-23. More
information on the programme and venue, registration and electronic
submission of papers are available on
http://hiphub.mech.kuleuven.ac.be/symposium
A PDF of the leaflet can be downloaded from
http://hiphub.mech.kuleuven.ac.be/symposium/HipHub_2nd_announcement.pdf
Summary of the programme:
At the closure of the interdisciplinary research project titled 'The
role of biomechanical parameters in the success or failure of
cementless orthopaedic implants', funded by the research council of
K.U.Leuven, innovative, multidisciplinary research findings are
presented.
Reported topics include:
-Clinical and radiographic evaluation of THR performance
-Follow-up of implant performance using BMD and RSA
-Per-operative stability measures for THR
-Use of individualized musculoskeletal modelling to quantify hip
implant loading
-Potential of pre-operative parameters to predict post-operative THR
fixation and ingrowth
These reports are confronted with the state of the art on performance of
Total Hip Replacement (THR) presented by a faculty of keynote lecturers.
R. Geesink, Academic Hospital Maastricht, NL
E. Garling, Leiden University Medical Center, NL
J. Cunningham, University of Bath, UK
B. Stansfield, Strathclyde University, UK
M. Heller, University of Berlin, DE
M. Viceconti, Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli, IT
This seminar is aimed at researchers active in the field of THR, as well as
a multi-disciplinary audience of orthopaedic surgeons, engineers and
physical therapists involved in the treatment of patients after THR and
related procedures.
