    RESEARCH ENGINEER: UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO
    ORTHOPAEDIC BIOENGINEERING LABORATORY

    The Orthopaedic Bioengineering Laboratory at the University of California,
    San Francisco (Dr. Jeff Lotz, PI) is seeking a qualified applicant for a
    research engineering position (Staff Research Associate III). This position
    involves the design and execution of numerous in vitro biomechanical tests
    of orthopaedic implants as well as basic lab managerial duties, including
    equipment maintenance and tissue database management.

    Applicants must have a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Bio-engineering and at
    least two years of experience in biomechanical testing for orthopaedic
    applications. Other qualifications include: 1) knowledge of basic human
    anatomy and experience with dissection and preparation of human cadaveric
    tissue, 2) prior use of industrial testing platforms, e.g., MTS or Instron,
    3) good design and machining skills, 4) expertise in use of sensors, e.g.,
    strain gages and load cells, 5) extensive experience with Labview® and
    Matlab®, and 6) good written and oral communication skills.

    This position will involve extensive collaboration with UCSF clinical and
    research faculty as well as representatives from the orthopaedic device
    industry. It presents a tremendous opportunity for individuals interested in
    the development of new orthopaedic implants.
