    Through a collaboration between the Institute for Sports Science and the
    Centre for Sports Science
    and Sports Medicine (CSSB, a joint institution of the Charité - Center
    for Musculoskeletal Surgery
    and the Institute for Sports Science), the philosophical faculty IV of
    the Humboldt University of
    Berlin is pleased to announce the availability of the following
    interdisciplinary scientific
    professorships to cover the fields of sport science, sport medicine,
    injury prevention and
    rehabilitation:

    W3-Professorship in „Training and Movement Sciences“ from 01.10.2008
    reference: PR/012/07

    This is a key professorship within the Institute for Sport Science and
    in the CSSB. The successful
    candidate will demonstrate excellence in research and teaching in the
    field of training and movement
    science and represent the scientific section of the CSSB as a link
    between regeneration and prevention.
    A comprehensive commitment is essential in order to establish and
    develop the CSSB, as well as a
    personal dedication to university research and teaching. The areas of
    expertise will have a central
    focus on training sciences (diagnostics, prevention, intervention and
    rehabilitation), movement
    sciences (evaluation of function-oriented motor control in individual
    and team sports) and biomechanics
    (biological adaptation of the movement apparatus during high performance
    sports motion). The successful
    candidate requires an internationally proven record in two or more of
    these disciplines.

    W2- Professorship in „Sport Sociology“ from 01.10.2007 reference:
    PR/008/07

    The successful candidate will be an inspiring representative of sport
    sociology as a theoretical and
    empirical discipline in research and teaching. The ability to teach
    different MSc and BA courses in
    sport history is desired. A comprehensive commitment is essential in
    order to establish and develop
    the CSSB, as well as a personal dedication to university research and
    teaching. Areas of expertise
    should cover high performance sports, general sports and physical
    education, which are to be analysed
    in the context of specialisation, talent promotion, biographic and
    gender research. The successful
    candidate requires a proven record in several of these disciplines.
    Furthermore, practical experience
    in socially relevant teaching and research, as well as an enthusiasm for
    advisory activities in sports
    politics, are desired.

    Both professors are fundamentally expected to build a close cooperation
    with the Olympiastützpunkten
    and the Bundesleistungszentren, as well as acquire third party funding,
    and participate in a Humboldt
    Graduate School. The teaching and examination requirements will be based
    upon the MSc and BA courses
    of the Institute for Sport Sciences.
    The applicants must meet the standard requirements for appointment as a
    professor in accordance with
    §100 of the Berliner Hochschulgesetz. The Humboldt University of Berlin
    aims to increase the proportion
    of women in research and teaching and therefore requests that only
    serious and qualified scientists
