There are no words that appropriately express how senseless was the taking of Kevin Granata's magnificent life. I have seldom had the opportunity to interact with as truly exceptional an individual as he was. While it will never seem like enough, the opportunities to discuss with him not just biomechanics related topics, but matters of family, sports, teaching, and others will forever be cherished. Memories of time spent simply having fun (eating, laughing, even a little dancing) at those occasions when we could be together will be cherished as well. I know that mere words have little chance of healing the emotional wounds of those left behind, but I hope that prayer, love and acts of kindness will lead toward the right direction. The Virginia Tech community has demonstrated enormous capacity in these regards, and their efforts will certainly continue. May God bless the family and friends of Kevin, and the entire Virginia Tech community

Dear Biomch-L subscribers,
Kevin Granata was among the victims of yesterday's shooting at Virginia Tech
University. I did not know Kevin personally so hopefully others will submit
postings.
Kevin was co-organizer of last year's ASB meeting, when many of you visited
Virginia Tech. His work in biomechanics was exceptionally innovative but
sadly we will never see his full impact. Our thoughts are with his wife and
children.
