POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
APPOINTMENT: Department of Kinesiology. Nine-month tenure track position in
Kinesiology beginning August 2007.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate (at time of appointment) in
Kinesiology (or related field) with a specialization in Biomechanics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience in university settings.
Ability to teach in the areas of Biomechanics, Anatomy & Physiology,
Statistics, and other areas in Kinesiology. Experience in, or potential for,
research leading to refereed publications and scholarly presentations,
professional involvement, and securing external funding.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful applicant will be expected to teach
undergraduate and graduate classes in Biomechanics and one or more of the
following areas: Anatomy & Physiology, and Statistics. Additional teaching
areas and specific assignments are dependent upon candidate expertise and
departmental needs. Engage in scholarly activity and provide service to the
Department, College, University, and Profession.
RANK & SALARY: Assistant/Associate Professor. Salary commensurate with

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department's 25 full-time faculty members serve a
growing department of over 450 undergraduate students specializing in
physical education teacher education, exercise science and fitness, and
athletic training; and approximately 100 graduate students specializing in
exercise science, pedagogy, sport and exercise psychology, sport management,
and wellness promotion and fitness management. The Department, with
undergraduate and graduate programs at the Macomb Campus and graduate
programs at the Quad Cities Campus, has state of the art facilities
supporting teaching and research related to athletic training, biomechanics,
human performance, motor behavior, and pedagogy. Equipment available for
conducting research includes: two Quinton 12-lead ECG systems, Quinton
treadmill, Parvo-Medics metabolic measurement system, a climate-control
chamber, Monarch cycle ergometers, a Lode electronically-braked cycle
ergometer, three Cholestech LDX lipid analyzers, and body composition
assessment equipment including a hydrostatic weighing system, a Bod Pod, and
several Tanita BF-350 bioimpedance analyzers. Additional research equipment
includes 2-D Peak Motus video analysis system with an analog collection
module, AMTI force platform, an 8-channel Myo-Pac Jr. EMG system and a
