Director Biomechanics (Research)
Job Summary
You have the overall responsibility for directing Zimmer's European Biomechanics Research, including Experimental Biomechanics, Computational Biomechanics, Joint Biomechanics and Test Lab. The segment areas in these groups include hips, knees, trauma and extremities (additionally, spine in the test lab). Oversee core team members on development teams. Work with Materials, Tribology and Polymer groups within Research (both in Europe and the US) and Production, Regulatory, Quality and other departments as needed.
General Functions:
-Provide leadership necessary for New Technology and Product Development projects
-Collaboration with Research in Warsaw (IN, USA), development teams and other departments
-Provide/lead technical evaluation or consultation for other departments (i.e. Regulatory)
-Ensure completion of critical projects, both in Research and in collaboration with other groups
-Personnel and leadership responsibility for all Biomechanics groups
-Help set strategic direction of Biomechanics Research for Zimmer
-Collaboration with universities and surgeons
-Solve variety of complex research issues
-Cooperation and understanding of Regulatory
Education / Other Requirements:
-MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related relevant field
-10+ years of related medical device R&D industry experience
-Experience managing people
-Leadership experience
-Knowledge in Materials, Manufacturing, Fatigue, Statistics
-Fluent in German & English
-Knowledge in Orthopedics and Biomechanics
-Medical Industry know how
