    The University of New South Wales, School of
    Safety Science is pleased to announce:

    PhD Scholarship Notice

    Biomechanics of Impact Injury


    Two APAIs are available for PhD candidates to
    undertake research as part of an Australian
    Research Council funded Linkage Project on the
    performance of pedal and motor cycle
    helmets. Partners are the NRMA, the NRMA-ACT
    Road Safety Trust, ATSB, TAC and DVE. The study
    involves a prospective study of pedal and motor
    cycle accidents, accident reconstruction,
    biomechanical analysis of impacts and helmet
    performance using experimental and numerical
    methods, and injury analysis. Therefore, an
    interest and background in one or more related
    areas is essential. Suitable applicants will
    have at least a 4yr degree with honours 2,1 or
    equivalent (eg. Masters degree) in engineering or
    science and be Australian residents. The
    candidate will be enrolled full time in a PhD in
    the School of Safety Science at UNSW. The School
    will offer a top up scholarship.
