The University of New South Wales, School of
Safety Science is pleased to announce:
PhD Scholarship Notice
Biomechanics of Impact Injury
Two APAIs are available for PhD candidates to
undertake research as part of an Australian
Research Council funded Linkage Project on the
performance of pedal and motor cycle
helmets. Partners are the NRMA, the NRMA-ACT
Road Safety Trust, ATSB, TAC and DVE. The study
involves a prospective study of pedal and motor
cycle accidents, accident reconstruction,
biomechanical analysis of impacts and helmet
performance using experimental and numerical
methods, and injury analysis. Therefore, an
interest and background in one or more related
areas is essential. Suitable applicants will
have at least a 4yr degree with honours 2,1 or
equivalent (eg. Masters degree) in engineering or
