Position: Research Scientist
Project Description: Manual wheelchair users are at considerable risk of
developing upper limb overuse injuries. One preventative measure is to
improve how the user pushes the wheelchair. While there has been
considerable effort put into studying propulsion, we still do not know
how to optimally propel a wheelchair. This research will fill gaps in
our understanding, develop innovative research methods and identify
strategies that reduce demand on the wheelchair user.
Job Requirements: Requirements include a minimum of a Master of Science
degree in Biomechanics/Kinesiology, Biomechanical Engineering,
Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related
science. We are also considering qualified postdoctoral fellows for this
position. The ideal candidate will possess experience in wheelchair
propulsion biomechanics or upper extremity biomechanics. Strong written
and oral communication skills are required. Experience with IRB-approved
human subject testing, data acquisition with LabView, SEMG, motion
capture, data processing with MATLAB and statistical analysis with SPSS
is preferred.
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with
education, background, training, and experience.
To Apply: Email a letter of interest, CV, and contact information for
