Faculty Position in School of Biomedical Engineering at Dalhousie
    University
    Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

The School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME) at Dalhousie University
is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in biomechanics to join our
vibrant faculty group at the rank of Assistant or Associate
Professor. The SBME is a departmental unit in the Faculties of both
Engineering and Medicine. It is a multidisciplinary unit whose goal
is to contribute to enhanced health care, to develop new biomedical
technology and understanding, and to improve training of highly
qualified personnel to work in academic, health care and industrial
    environments.

The SBME is a graduate school offering degrees in Biomedical
Engineering at both the Master's and PhD levels. The objective of the
MASc in Biomedical Engineering is to train engineers and
bioscientists so they can (i) apply engineering methodologies to
understanding biomedical systems and (ii) develop new biomedical
technologies. The PhD program, in addition to the above objectives
aims to train independent, fully competent investigators who will
lead their own research teams. As well, the School contributes
substantially to undergraduate training in Engineering through
elective courses and degree options in Biomedical Engineering.

The School has a state-of-the-art Dynamics of Human Motion laboratory
including 3-D motion capture, multiple force plates and multiple-lead
electromyographic systems. It also has multiple servo-hydraulic
testing systems and related biomechanics and biomaterials assessment
infrastructure suitable for modern biomechanics research. In
addition, there is strong support from the clinical community (e.g.
orthop├Ždic surgery, rehabilitation medicine) for collaborative
research, as well as opportunities for collaboration within SBME and
other units at Dalhousie University. Indeed, the successful applicant
would join an established team of clinical and basic science
researchers who share interests in these areas. (http://
    bme.medicine.dal.ca/)

We are seeking applications from highly motivated individuals who
have strong research interests in the broad areas of: (i) the
biomechanics of human motion, (ii) the biomechanics of
musculoskeletal disease, (iii) its orthopaedic surgical treatment and/
or (iv) rehabilitation treatment. The successful candidate will have
a PhD, demonstrated research excellence through peer-reviewed
presentations and publications, and demonstrated ability to teach
effectively. Ideal candidates would illustrate strong funding
potential from CIHR, CFI and NSERC. Candidates are preferred who are,
or will become, eligible for registration as professional engineers
in Nova Scotia. Our priority is excellence and all researchers (in
biomechanics of human movement) are encouraged to apply and will be
    seriously considered.

The successful applicant should have a thorough understanding of 3-D
kinematics and kinetics of human motion, orthop├Ždic surgical
biomechanics and rehabilitation engineering. They will be expected to
teach related courses at the graduate (SBME) and undergraduate
    (Engineering) levels.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians
and permanent residents will be given priority. Dalhousie University
is an Employment Equity/Affirmative Action employer. The University
encourages applications from qualified Aboriginal people, persons
with a disability, racially visible persons and women." For more
information, visit the Employment Equity web site at:

Salary: commensurate with experience and rank
    Position open until filled.

Please send a curriculum vita, a statement of research and teaching
interests and arrange to have three letters of reference (at least
