    Post-Doctoral Fellow Position Available Immediately for Fall 2007 - Human
    Performance Laboratory, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

    The Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Calgary
    (www.kin.ucalgary.ca/hpl) has a PDF position available immediately for the
    Fall of 2007. The successful candidate will work on selected projects which
    are currently studied in our research group and funded by industry. Some
    examples of current projects include: (a) Impact forces, soft tissue
    vibrations and muscle tuning, (b) The role of small muscles for the dynamic
    and static stability during locomotion, (c) Contribution of external
    supports to performance (e.g. Storage and return of energy through elastic
    bands; Compression of muscle packages; Thermo-effects), (d) Development of
    new skating blades to improve performance, (e) Vibration damping during
    skiing by changing the ski, the binding, the boot and/or the apparel; (f)
    Improving the energy balance with apparel, (g) Quantifying body functions
    with sensors implemented in apparel.

    The Human Performance Laboratory is part of the Roger Jackson Centre for
    Health and Wellness Research at the University of Calgary. It houses about
    180 scientists and trainees, and has an operating annual budget of
    approximately $9.4 Million. The HPL has an outstanding infrastructure,
    state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and specialists, which are
    unparalleled in the world, and thus offer unique training and research
    opportunities. Our institution is ranked number 1 in the world for footwear
    and biomechanics research. The expertise present in the Centre include
    Biomechanics, Engineering, Physics, Biology, Exercise Physiology,
    Biochemistry, Motor Control, Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics and Anatomy.

    Responsibilities: This Post-Doctoral position will be responsible to
    conduct research related to one of the topics listed above, depending on
    qualifications and experience. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will supervise one
    or more technical staff and/or students directly involved in the project.

    Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering or
    related field. Experience with biomechanics data collection and analysis and
    professional writing skills are preferred.
