  • Post-doctoral position Imperial College London

    Research Associate/Post-doctoral position

    Bone Biomechanics

    Department of Bioengineering

    Imperial College London

    Salary Range : £27,240 - £34,750 per annum

Fixed Term appointment for 36 months.

A full-time post-doctoral research position is available in the Department of Bioengineering of Imperial College London in bone biomechanics. The BBSRC funded project will examine the relationship between bone structure and locomotor behaviour across 5 clades of animals in order to address the question: how do size and locomotor behaviour influence skeletal organization? The project will use detailed mechanics, gait analysis, and multi-scale imaging to investigate skeletal scaling and morphology in the whole appendicular skeleton. The project is a collaboration between the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London and the Royal Veterinary College (with Dr. John Hutchinson) with post-doctoral researchers each institution working closely together. The post-doctoral researcher at Imperial College will focus on characterization bone structure (using CT, microCT, and computational modelling) of animals across species.

Candidates should have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials, Bioengineering or related fields with previous experience in musculoskeletal imaging, analysis, and computation. A solid mathematical background is important. The candidate should have an academic record of scientific excellence, independent research, and a strong interest in an interdisciplinary approach to research.

Start date - December 2007 if possible.

Please send a full curriculum vitae, a letter detailing research interests, and contact information of two referees to:
