Hello,
New postdoc at The Royal Veterinary College's Structure and Motion Lab,
Department of Veterinary Basic Sciences:
Applications are invited for a 36 month position for an enthusiastic
biologist/biomechanist to work on a BBSRC-funded Engineering & Biological
Systems grant to study the links between animal locomotion, body size and
skeletal form in terrestrial mammals and birds. The chief role of the
researcher is to use experimentally-measured kinetics and kinematics
(inverse dynamics) to quantify locomotor mechanics in a variety of exotic
species. The grant is a collaborative effort with Dr. Sandra Shefelbine and
Anthony Bull (Imperial College, London) as well as other animal biomechanics
researchers worldwide. Imperial's new postdoctoral research (advertised
yesterday here on Biomech-L) will work closely with this RVC-based one.
Expertise in all techniques is not essential but some relevant experience is
desirable; expertise in live animal/human locomotor biomechanics research is
essential. The post is based in the world class Structure and Motion
Laboratory at our Hawkshead Campus near Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.
Starting salary will be £25,762 per annum plus £2,323 London Allowance per
annum = £28,085, plus pension.
