The Institute of Lightweight Design and Structural Biomechanics in
Vienna, Austria, seeks a highly motivated Ph.D. student in
computational biomechanics
A Ph.D. student with expertise in finite element methods is looked
for to investigate structure-function relationships of human bone
tissue.
The research will focus on modelling lamellar bone from the nano- to
the meso level using analytical but mainly numerical methods such as
finite element methods in the field of micro-mechanics,
homogenization and periodic unit cell approaches.
The candidate will be involved in a multidisciplinary and
international research network, will have the opportunity to attend
scientific conferences and will be able to extend his/her education
in numerous aspects of tissue biomechanics.
The candidate must hold a Master’s Degree or an equivalent European
Engineering Diploma in mechanical engineering, civil engineering,
biomedical engineering or a related field.
Knowledge of the German language and European Union citizenship are
useful, but NOT mandatory.
