  • PhD Student Fellowships in Movement and Rehabilitation Science atNorthwestern University

PhD level graduate study is available in a newly established specialization
in Movement and Rehabilitation Science (MRS) within the Northwestern
University Interdepartmental Neuroscience (NUIN) umbrella program. The MRS
specialty comprises faculty and resources from several units including
NUIN, the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences, the
Department of Physiology, the Department of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and other
affiliated units across the Chicago and Evanston campuses of Northwestern.
The laboratories affiliated with MRS represent a broad array of research
interests for fundamental and clinically applied experimental and modeling
studies focused on movement and its rehabilitation.

The MRS specialty draws students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines
including physical therapy, occupational therapy and other health
professions, exercise science, biomechanics, engineering, and the basic
sciences. The program focuses on research training, and content areas are
created to match the interests of both the student and sponsoring faculty
    member.

Students interested in earning a doctoral degree specialized in Movement
and Rehabilitation Science apply for admission to Northwestern University
    directly through NUIN (http://www.northwestern.edu/nuin/index.htm).
Applications are currently being accepted and should be received by
mid-December, and no later than December 31, so they can be processed in
time for our early January review. Applications will not be accepted after
December 31, though supporting documents (letters of recommendation,
transcripts, and such) may be sent later provided the on-line application
    is complete by December 31.

All admitted NUIN students specializing in MRS are given a graduate student
fellowship that covers tuition costs and a stipend for living. The stipend
will continue throughout the student's studies provided he/she remains in
good academic standing. Medical insurance is also provided.

Inquiries and further details about the MRS specialization can be obtained
