ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (TENURE TRACK) / CONVERSION (ABD)

Probationary Plan Process.
Salary placement depends upon academic preparation and professional
experience. In some circumstances, exceptional faculty at higher ranks may
be considered.
Instructional Level: Graduate
Specific Position Characteristics: The successful candidate should
demonstrate a successful record of academic teaching or clinical research in
one or more of these areas of expertise: adult Neuroanatomy with experience
in clinical interventions; Clinical Cardiopulmonary/Exercise physiology;
Pharmacology; Evidenced-based practice. Additional responsibilities include
scholarly activities, advising students, student research and project
direction, curriculum development, collaborative research, service at all
levels of the university, and community outreach. Specific assignments will
depend on department needs., The successful candidate may be called upon to
teach in a distance education mode and will be encouraged to develop
web-enhanced and/or web-based instruction. Outcomes assessment and service
learning are important components of the university curriculum. The
successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and
staff in the department, college and university.
Qualifications - Academic Preparation: An earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.,
D.Sc.) in Physical Therapy or closely-related discipline is required for
appointment to a tenure-track position. Candidates nearing completion of
the doctorate (ABD) may be considered for a lectureship (temporary position)
with the possibility of conversion to tenure-track upon completion of the
doctorate. For appointment to the rank of Associate Professor, a candidate
must demonstrate a record of teaching excellence and substantial research
and publication at the university level.
Qualifications - Teaching or Other Professional Experience: The successful
candidate must be licensed or eligible for physical therapy licensure in
California with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in physical
therapy practice. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to,
or potential for, teaching excellence and scholarly activity at the
university level. The ability to utilize and plan for use of technology in
instruction is required. It is desirable that candidates demonstrate a
record of, or potential for, development of grant proposals and attracting
external funding, and active participation or leadership roles in the
profession of physical therapy or relevant organizations. The successful
candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and
students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconoimc backgrounds.
