JOB POSTING - RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

COMPUTATIONAL BIOMECHANICS - CENTER FOR APPLIED BIOMECHANICS

The University of Virginia, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, is seeking
applicants for a Research Assistant Professor position to work at the
University's Center for Applied Biomechanics. The successful applicant will
be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary research group focusing on
    injury biomechanics and safety initiatives.

Specific responsibilities include coordination and execution of currently
funded computational research in injury biomechanics, presentation of
research results through journal publications and conference proceedings,
development of new and independent research initiatives including writing
grants and proposals, and supervision of the activities of research
    assistants and post-doctoral researchers.

Candidates should have a PhD in mechanical engineering, applied mechanics,
or a related field with an emphasis in computational modeling. Experience
in both multi-body and finite element techniques, including geometric and
material nonlinearities, is preferred. A strong publication history,
expertise in finite element modeling (image segmentation and reconstruction,
mesh generation, explicit and implicit software), optimization, and
constitutive modeling are required. Post-doctoral experience with
    biomechanical applications is preferred.

Inquiries and resumes (with contact information for 3 references) may be
submitted by e-mail to mwa7w@virginia.edu (preferably) or to Department of
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of Virginia, 1011 Linden
    Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

The University of Virginia is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action
Employer strongly committed to achieving excellence through cultural
diversity. The University actively encourages applications and nominations
