New Industry Position Announcement
POSITION: RESEARCH ENGINEER
LOCATION: SOUTH
This position is responsible for leading mechanical performance evaluation activities of medical implants, instrumentation, and materials. This involves engagement in the product development cycle and interaction with Product Development, Marketing, Regulatory, and Operations groups. Good laboratory practices, project management, problem solving, and good communication skills are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To design and conduct performance evaluation activities of medical implants, instrumentation, and materials.
To manage performance evaluation activities from project conception to design verification testing.
To apply technical principles to the performance evaluation of devices.
To partner with cross-functional teams in the product development cycle as a technical resource.
To operate biomechanical testing and general laboratory equipment to achieve project goals.
To practice good laboratory practices, record keeping, and documentation in order to comply with internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
To coordinate testing being conducted at outside facilities.
To analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from performance evaluation activities.
To disseminate and present test results and conclusions.
To provide technical support to Product Development, Marketing, Regulatory, and Operations.
To remain current with technology and testing standards within the business. This is accomplished through attending courses both on the engineering and/or technical side, and the medical side.
To analyze new technologies for potential product applications.
To constantly strive to reduce commercialization times in an effort to remain competitive in the market place.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with one year of related work experience in orthopedic biomechanical testing, research, or product development is required. A candidate with a Bachelor or Science with three years of experience will be considered.
