Dear Biomch-L subscribers,
I am recruiting science, engineering, technology, and mathematics students
for a paid summer internship with the Department of Defense (DoD). The Joint
Educational Opportunities for Minorities (JEOM) summer internship is offered
by the Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization
Program (HPCMP). The JEOM program is structured to increase employment
opportunities for students from underrepresented groups who are pursuing
studies in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
disciplines. 50 JEOM interns will be hosted for 10 weeks at one of 12 sites
nationwide.
JEOM offers a competitive stipend, roundtrip travel expenses to the
internship location, and an opportunity to network with leaders in the
science and technology community at a technical conference and Summer
Colloquium in Seattle, Washington.
Students will not be required to enlist in any of the military Services
(Army, Navy, or Air Force); JEOM provides an opportunity for students to
learn how to conduct research and work on exciting and rewarding projects at
national laboratories and test centers across the country. Qualified
applicants can be graduate or undergraduate students with majors in
chemistry, biology, computer science, information technology, mathematics,
physics, and engineering. Students can complete the application at
http://www.hpcmo.hpc.mil/JEOM/howtoapply.php. In addition, all applicants
must send a resumé, official transcript, and two letters of recommendation
to:
