The Center for Orthopaedic & Biomechanics Research (COBR,
http://coen.boisestate.edu/cobr/) at Boise State University is
pleased to announce two Graduate Research Assistantship openings in the
Intermountain Orthopaedics Sports Medicine and Biomechanics Research
Laboratory for the 2008-2009 academic year. Applicants have the option
to select from three graduate programs leading to a Master of Science
degree: Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Exercise and
Sports Studies (Kinesiology Dept). All applicants must be admitted to
the Boise State University Graduate College.
Responsibilities: Graduate Research Assistants are expected to
contribute 20 hours per week toward assisting with laboratory research
and related activities, maintenance of laboratory equipment, data
collection, and assistance with setting up undergraduate lab
activities.
Current Research Areas: Musculoskeletal modeling of the upper
extremity, diagnosis of shoulder pathology, shoe-turf interactions in
NFL football, quantification of joint kinematics using medical imaging,
tissue properties of ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments, landing
mechanics in children.
Stipend: A graduate student stipend of $24,000 for twelve months and
tuition waiver are available for qualified candidates. Extremely
qualified candidates will be considered for the BSU Graduate Residential
Scholar program, which also covers lodging on campus. Qualifications:
Outstanding students from engineering and related sciences are
encouraged to apply. Course background in the following areas is
desirable: mathematics, computer programming, anatomy, signal
processing, and image processing.
