    Postdoctoral Position in the field of Implant-Osseointegration

    The Laboratory of Biomechanics and Biomaterials of the Orthopaedic
    Department of the Hannover Medical School (LBB, www.lbb-mhh.de.vu) is
    offering a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the field of Implant-Osseointegration
    for two years with the option for a further two years of funding.
    Applicants are expected to have an advanced degree (Dr.-Ing., Dr. rer. nat.,
    PhD. or equivalent) in Veterinary, Biomedical Engineering, Molecular
    Biology, Cell Biology or an associated field. We are looking for a highly
    qualified, motivated and creative individual who is willing to work in a
    multidisciplinary scientific research environment and who can document their
    ability to work independently.
    The research areas for this position will be in the development of new
    techniques for the analysis of osseointegration in the field of bioactive
    coatings for total-joint arthroplasty and fracture fixation. The individual
    will be responsible for the planning, implementation and supervision of
    several research projects, and is expected to work and publish at the
    international level. Research experience in bone biology, as well as a
    familiarity with associated analytical techniques such as histomorphology,
    CT, electron microscopy as well as experience with animal models are
    expected. Expertise in one of the following fields should be documented:
    growth factors such as BMP, bone mechanobiology, or bone cell biology.
    Fluency in spoken and written English is required, the applicant should be
    willing to attain some level of German fluency.
    The position will offer the candidate the opportunity to work in a
    multidisciplinary environment with direct daily contact and interaction with
    the clinicians of the Orthopaedic Department of the Hannover Medical School.
    The work will be performed in the context of the Research Consortium 599 of
    the German Research Foundation (SFB 599: Biomedical Technology,
    www.mhh-hno.de/sfb599). The SFB 599 is a cooperation between the Medical
    School, the Leibnitz University and the Veterinary Schools of Hannover, as
    well as the Technical University of Braunschweig and the Helmholtz Center
    for Infection Research. The Biomaterials Section of the LBB is well
    equipped with equipment for performing polymer resin histology as well as
    technical support staff.
