management and conduct of biomechanics and biomaterials research
projects. Daily responsibilities will include the following; develop
detailed research plans, perform advanced computational analysis, manage
internal and external resources to achieve project objectives, and make
recommendations in support of product development and future research.
Manage research projects from initial concept and feasibility through
transition to product development. Stay current with advances in spine
care and orthopaedic surgery, biomechanics, biomaterials and tissue
engineering. Attend technical meetings and participate in activities of
technical societies. Prepare reports and presentations for both

The ideal candidate will have experience with experimental biomechanics
of the intervertebral disc. The candidate should be familiar with the
design and conduct of in vitro and in vivo experiments to characterize
the mechanical properties of soft tissues. The candidate should also be
familiar with standard analytical techniques, MATLAB programming, and
preparation of journal articles, grant applications, patent documents,
and IACUC and IRB applications. Candidates with PhD degree in
    Biomechanics/ Mechanical Engineering/ Bioengineering/ Materials Science
or equivalent discipline with previous experience in experimental
characterization of mechanical properties are encouraged to apply.
