20th Annual Medical Engineering Student Project Competition combined with the Smith and Nephew Lecture
Orthofix Prize for Best Medical Engineering Project (£500) Open to recent graduates (2007), third/fourth year undergraduates and taught masters degree students, who have completed or are working on a medical engineering project.
Vicon Prize for Best Project involving the Design or Development of a Medical Device (£500) Open to recent graduates (2007), third/fourth year undergraduates and taught masters degree students, who have completed or are working on a project involving the design or development of a medical device.
The Furlong Research Charitable Foundation Prize for Best Medical Engineering Recent PhD Thesis (£750) Open to those who have graduated or passed between 2006 and 2008, and have completed a Medical Engineering Thesis
Corin Group Prize for Best Project Presentation (£500) Awarded to the best presentation on the day.
Runners-up will receive £50 book tokens.
How to Enter
To enter the competition, please submit a one page abstract (3 pages for the PhD prize), including illustrations, giving an overview of the project and be available to present your project at the competition finals on 3 July 2008. The finals day will also include the prestigious Smith and Nephew Lecture, this year presented by Professor Peter Hunter of the Bioengineering Institute in New Zealand and a morning medical exhibition.
Closing date for submissions is 20 May 2008 Finalists will be informed by 10 June 2008 Competition Finals will take place on 3 July 2008

Please note that group projects are accepted, however, only one group member is allowed to give the presentation on the finals day who, if wins, will accept the prize themselves. Certificates can be sent out to other group members following the finals day and it will be up to the individual who presented the project to divide the prize money.
