Applications are invited for a permanent faculty position in Biomedical
Engineering (Biomechanics) at Lecturer level (US Assistant Professor).
Applicants should hold a doctorate in mechanical or biomedical
engineering with research experience in one or more of the following
areas: gait analysis, motor control, kinematic modelling,
musculoskeletal biomechanics, sports medicine or orthopaedic
biomechanics. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and
maintain an internationally recognized, externally-funded research
program and to demonstrate a commitment to teaching at both
undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Biomedical Engineering is one of
four strategic research themes within the School of Electrical,
Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. The School consists of 33
academic and 17 technical staff with approximately 350 undergraduate
students and 200 taught and research postgraduate students. University
College Dublin is the largest university in Ireland and is one of
Ireland's foremost research-intensive universities. UCD has an
established history of Biomedical Engineering research with a network of
collaborators both nationally, through the university teaching
hospitals, and internationally.
Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a primary degree in Mechanical or Electrical
engineering and a PhD degree in Biomechanical or Biomedical engineering
with a minimum of 2 years post-doctoral research experience in one or
more of the following areas: gait analysis, motor control, kinematic
modelling or orthopaedic mechanics.
