    POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW

    Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Melbourne, Australia



    1. Position Description

    There is an immediate opening for a Research Fellow to join the
    Biomechanical Engineering Group at the University of Melbourne. The
    position will be based in the Dept of Mechanical Engineering at the
    University of Melbourne. The appointee will be supervised jointly by
    Professor Marcus Pandy at the University of Melbourne and Dr. Richard
    Baker at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne. The successful
    applicant will have a PhD or equivalent degree in mechanical
    engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. The
    appointee will conduct research in the area of advanced computational
    modeling and simulation of human movement with an emphasis on studying
    movement disorders in patients with cerebral palsy. The appointee will
    also be expected to perform gait experiments on healthy people and on
    children with cerebral palsy. Experience in rigid-body dynamics, medical
    imaging, particularly magnetic resonance imaging, musculoskeletal
    modeling, and video-based motion analysis is highly desirable. Extensive
    resources are available for performing both computational and
    experimental work related to human movement biomechanics.



    2. Additional Selection Criteria

    - Demonstrated aptitude for research with some evidence of peer-reviewed
    publications.

    - Some experience in undergraduate teaching, student supervision and
    postgraduate supervision.

    - Excellent written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal
    skills.

    - Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team.

    - High ethical standards.



    The position is available immediately. A competitive salary with
    remuneration will be negotiated. Candidates are requested to submit a
