The American College of Sports Medicine is holding its 55th Annual
(2008) Meeting in Indianapolis, IN, May 28- May 31. Meeting
Registration and program information can be viewed at
http://www.acsm.org/ (following the links to "ACSM Conferences").
In preparation for the 2009 ACSM Annual Meeting to be held on May 27-30,
Seattle, Washington, The Biomechanics Interest Group of the American
College of Sports Medicine is soliciting session and program ideas and
topics. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their
proposals to Scott McLean (mcleansc@umich.edu) prior to the 2008
meeting. Using the session definitions below, please designate which
session format would best fit for your topic/idea. You may also contact
the BIG representatives for more information.

DEFINITIONS OF ACSM ANNUAL MEETING SESSIONS
1. Sessions with a 2-hour format:
Current Issue - Issues for discussion that are in the forefront of the
ACSM membership. Current issues include 3 - 4 speakers with time
allotted for an introduction and overview and overall discussion.
Special Event - Sessions of special interest to ACSM members that reach
a broader audience. Special events include 3 - 4 speakers with time
allotted for an introduction and overview and overall discussion.
Symposium - In depth, scientific and state-of-the-art lectures in
important areas of research. Symposia include 3 - 4 speakers with time
allotted for an introduction and overview and overall discussion.
2. Sessions with a 50 minute format:
Clinical Colloquium - Focuses on an emerging or controversial area of
clinical practice. This session includes a moderator and two speakers.
Clinical Lecture - Focuses on a specific clinical area.
Colloquium - An interactive discussion on a topic or issue in sports
medicine and exercise science. Colloquiums are informal presentations
that give the attendees a chance to "meet the expert".
Conversational Forum - Issues for discussion by considering differing
views, involving expert discussants and a host.
Tutorial Lecture - A critical review and analysis of the current state
of knowledge in a field. The lecture should familiarize attendees with
the basics of a subject and progress to current issues, question,
problems, and the frontier of knowledge.
