Motion Analysis Lab, Shriners Hospitals for Children - Portland
Shriners Hospitals for Children in Portland, Oregon is a leading
pediatric hospital specializing in the treatment of children with
orthopedic problems including neuromuscular disorders such as cerebral
palsy. We are very excited to announce an immediate opening for a full
time physical therapist to join the clinical and research team in a
state-of-the-art Motion Analysis Lab.
The Motion Analysis Lab provides services in clinical movement analysis
for a variety of pathologies and has an integrated research program for
pathological movement. The laboratory is comprised of instrumentation
and computers dedicated to the quantification of human locomotion. The
lab is equipped with a Vicon motion system with 8 cameras, 2 AMTI force
plates, Motion Lab Systems surface and fine wire electromyography with
16-channels, a video system, and a Tekscan foot pressure mat system. The
Motion Lab has a busy research and clinical patient volume with strong
support of medical staff. Currently, over 300 full gait analysis studies
and 600 patients are tested each year. Research topics include motion
related projects initiated by the motion lab staff and medical staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Collect patient data
a. videotaping
b. computerized assessment - motion, EMG and foot pressure
study
c. ROM, static exam, and manual muscle testing
2. Process and plots patient data
3. Interpret motion lab data
4. Make clear presentations of patient report to medical staff
5. Interact appropriately with children, parents and staff
6. Provide clinical input for research projects
OTHER DUTIES (May re reassigned, if necessary for reasonable
accommodation):
1. Lifts patients up to 35 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum education: B.S. in Physical Therapy
* Minimum prior experience preferred: 2 years related pediatric
experience
* Required training/skills: Basic computer skills
