Mechanical/ manufacturing engineer position at a small company
developing Electricity-generating and Ergonomic Backpacks
Lightning Packs LLC was formed in suburban Philadelphia to
commercialize a new class of backpacks which can generate electricity
(Science, 2005, 309:1725-1728) and has ergonomic advantages (Nature,
2006, 444:1023-1024). Our small company (www.lightningpacks.com) is
currently in the process of bringing these backpacks to markets that
include, among others, the military, fire/rescue workers and
students. We are in search of a "hands-on" mechanical/manufacturing
engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the design,
prototype, pre-production and medium to high production of
electromechanical products containing both metal and hard plastic
components. We currently have functioning prototype designs that have
been tested and now must be moved forward into final production
designs for low cost medium to high volume production. Hands-on
experience in CAD, R&D processes, manufacturing, etc. are essential.
Interest and experience in biomechanics would also be beneficial. In
addition to the other responsibilities, the individual would help
model the backpack and perform empirical measurements (forces and kinematics).
Our company offers an opportunity for the right person to come in on
the ground floor and not only provide technical guidance, but
participate in the operations of the company toward its future growth.
Qualified candidate should email PDF's of CV/resume, letter of
interest and list of references to Dr. Larry Rome
(positions@lightningpacks.com).
