    SUMMARY:

    This position is responsible for performing biomechanical evaluations of spinal implants, instrumentation and materials.



    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Design and conduct biomechanical evaluation activities, including operation and monitoring of biomechanical testing (axial and biaxial load frames, wear simulators) and general laboratory equipment.



    Design test fixtures and custom testing apparatus.



    Analyze and interpret results from testing activities.



    Prepare reports and technical presentations.



    Stay current with advances in technology and testing standards by attending technical meetings and participating in technical societies.



    Provide technical assistance to Product Development, Regulatory, Marketing and other departments.



    May perform stress analysis using finite element analysis software (ANSYS), and/or multi-body kinematic analysis using commercially available software


    Perform duties in compliance with applicable FDA and state regulations as well as standards including, but not limited to, ISO 13485.



    REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor's degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering with laboratory experience is required; Master's degree preferred. Must have strong problem solving, technical writing, and communication skills. Knowledge of servohydraulic mechanical testing systems (MTS, or equivalent) is a plus.



    Technical computing skills (Ansys, Pro/Engineer, Matlab, Labview, Lifemod, Anybody, or equivalent) desirable.
