Postdoctoral Researcher Position Available - Summer 2008

Movement and Neurosciences Center, Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital

The Movement and Neurosciences Sciences Center of Excellence is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for a funded position involving primarily research responsibilities. This state-of-the-art research and clinical laboratory is dedicated to improving gait and rehabilitation outcomes for clients recovering from brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries and other neurologic and orthopedic conditions. The postdoctoral fellow will be part of a multidisciplinary team that is currently working on a National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) funded grant investigating biomechanical and ergonomic factors associated with elliptical training. The outcomes of this research will include developing and field testing of a prototype therapeutic gait training device for use in rehabilitation settings, community fitness centers and homes. Technology in the laboratory includes a 12-camera infrared motion analysis system, four AMTI force plates, a 10-channel fine wire and surface EMG system and the Pedar plantar pressure mapping hardware and software.
