Position: Laboratory Supervisor (#20080106)
The Biomedical Engineering Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, is seeking a LABORATORY SUPERVISOR.
JOB SUMMARY:
The LABORATORY SUPERVISOR will supervise and assist students in the performance of experiments in
assigned instructional laboratories, assist faculty, under supervision, with the implementation of upgrades to laboratory systems. This position is also responsible for the operation of the BME Instructional Laboratory facility and the maintenance of the applicable systems and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent, in biomedical engineering, electrical and/or mechanical engineering.
• At least 1 year experience in one or more of following areas: operation and maintenance of general laboratory equipment, data acquisition systems, operation of computer controlled mechanical systems, as well as general computer expertise with engineering software (i.e. LabView).
• Experience with and knowledge of the basic principles of electronic and mechanical systems, including ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and systems.
• Willingness to learn basic biological experimental techniques and to train in various wet lab processes and to use specialized instrumentation under guided instruction.
