    Job Opening for a Biomechanical Engineer

    Applied BioMechanics is currently seeking a biomechanical engineer for a
    consultant position in our office in Alameda, California.
    The successful candidate will be responsible for support and analysis
    related to our consulting activities in accident reconstruction and injury
    biomechanics, with opportunities to also be involved in some
    state-of-the-art research activities in both areas.
    Applicants should have an M.S. or a Ph.D. in biomechanical/mechanical
    engineering or structural mechanics with background and knowledge in
    biomechanics. The candidate MUST have a strong background in mechanics,
    including dynamics and strength of materials, and MUST also have experience
    in computational mechanics. Specific experience in rigid body dynamics
    modeling is preferred. The candidate should have outstanding verbal and
    written communication skills.

    Applied BioMechanics offers competitive compensation for this hourly
    consulting position (20 - 40 hours per week), with an attractive hourly rate
    incorporating equivalent benefits. Proper U.S. work permit is a must.

    Applied BioMechanics

    Applied BioMechanics specializes in providing engineering and scientific
    consulting in the areas of accident reconstruction, injury biomechanics, and
    related disciplines. Our key practice area is the analysis of accidents -
    to determine "what happened" in an accident. In automobile accidents,
    Applied BioMechanics analyzes available witness accounts and physical
    evidence, such as skid marks and property damage, reconstructs the
    interaction between the involved vehicles, and then analyzes the dynamics of
    the occupants during the collision. The resulting data on body force and
    motion, compared with known human tolerance, forms the basis to determine
    the mechanism of injury. With this information, one can then analyze the
    "what-if" scenarios, such as the expected injury outcome had an unrestrained
    occupant been using a seat belt during the crash. In addition to analyzing
    automobile accidents, Applied BioMechanics also performs accident
    reconstruction and biomechanical analysis in other environments, including
    the following:

    Other vehicular accidents, such as motorcycle, bicycle, pedestrian,
    bus, train and heavy truck accidents
    Recreational accidents, such as skiing accidents
    Work-related incidents, such as repetitive trauma
    Orthopedic devices, such as hip, knee and spinal prosthesis failure
    analysis
    Fall accidents (slip and fall, and fall from a height)
    Mechanical design analysis and evaluation.
