  • Postdoctoral research position in orthopaedic tissue engineering

A postdoctoral research position is available in the Stanford Soft
Tissue Biomechanics Laboratory (http://stbl.stanford.edu) in the area
of cartilage and fibrocartilage tissue engineering. This funded
project will examine the combined influences of mechanical and
biochemical stimuli on the in vitro differentiation of adipose-derived
stem cells (ADSCs). The project involves in vitro culture of ADSCs in
3D engineered constructs and analysis of gene expression, ECM
composition, matrix structure and mechanical properties.

Applicants must have strong experimental skills including proficiency
with cell and tissue culture and other relevant laboratory techniques,
the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent
written and oral communication skills. Candidates with a doctorate in
engineering or life science and experience working with mesenchymal
progenitor cells are particularly encouraged to apply. Qualified
applicants should submit via e-mail a C.V., a brief synopsis of
research experience and interests, up to three publications and a list
of three professional references. A start date of January 1, 2009 or
    earlier is preferable.
