‘Imaging and Measurements in Biomechanics
and medical Engineering’
2 - 3 October 2008
Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions
Universite Pierre et Marie Curie
175 rue Chevaleret, Paris, FRANCE
Hosted by ARUP
and Meditech
Supported by NPL and
Simpleware
Chairs. Marc Thiriet and Patrick Louis Combettes (France)
This Meditech meeting will focus on the considerable developments taking
place in medical imaging and scanning and their use across a wide area of
medical technology ranging from data acquisition to treatment efficacy.
Interest will be in the use of techniques which can assist in image
acquisition, measurement and image capture, data retrieval and image
processing and analysis.
Presentation will be given by:
Laurent Cohen, Patrick Louis Combettes, Stephen Richmond, Luc Soler,
Gabor Szekely and Marc Thiriet.
Suggested Topics
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, X-Ray/Computed Tomography, PET and Ultrasound
systems.
Imaging physics, image acquisition, image processing and interpretation of
data.
Medical imaging for clinical evaluation and virtual and robotic surgery.
Segmentation, contrast enhancement and validation techniques.
First Announcement and call for papers/posters
"Identifying the Mechanical Properties of Biological Materials"
6th November, 20078 at ARUP Campus
Blythe Valley Park
Solihull, UK
Hosted by ARUP
and Meditech
Arup and Meditech are pleased to announce details of the above meeting
which is to be held at the Arup Campus, Solihull. The meeting will consist
of invited speakers who will explore new developments taking place in
identifying parameters and materials properties required for a better
understanding of the behaviour and quantitative response of biological
tissues. Here soft tissues/organs/skin, bone structures,
ligaments/tendons/joints, biofluids, fluid/structure interaction, CFD
models and validation techniques are suggestions for inclusion. The aim
here is to focus on both existing and new scientific techniques (lab and
simulation based) which can be used to identify the properties of
biological tissue such that these can subsequently be used to provide more
accurate results in analysing and simulating tissue structure response.
Invited Speakers;
Sam Evans (Cardiff Univ), Eduardo de Neto (Swansea Univ), Djenane Pamplona
(Brazil), Hazel Screen (QMU London), Penny Probert Smith (Oxford Univ)
REGISTER AT
We would also be pleased to consider contributed presentations, posters or
displays for these seminars (oral presentations will be 20 minutes). The
costs of the meeting in Paris 2/3 October will be (160Euro including
seminar dinner) and Solihull, UK on 6 Nov will be £75. This will include
coffee breaks, lunch and conference packs. Numbers are restricted to 80
people at each meeting and will be allocated on a first come first served
basis. If you wish to contribute a paper or provide a poster or display
please contact Rumana at or see information
.
Also note that exhibition space for companies, publishers and software
houses is free of charge however the meeting fee for each person attending
will apply.
