  • 12 months Experienced Researcher (Postdoc) position in'Biomechanics of soft tissue' at Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute,Bologna (Italy)

    A 12 months position as an Experienced Researcher is available at
    the Laboratory of Medical Technology of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic
    Institute, Bologna, Italy
    (web site
    http://www.ior.it/Sito/frmRicerca_DettLaboratorio.aspx?IDItem=52&IDCont=0 &IDUO=92
    )

    within the framework of the European Marie Curie Research and
    Training Network (RTN) entitled '3D Anatomical Human' (web site
    http://3dah.miralab.unige.ch/ )

    Aim of the Network
    The objective of this research and training network is to increase,
    by scientific exchange, the development of technologies and knowledge
    around virtual representations of the human body for interactive
    medical applications. The network has a specific goal: developing
    realistic functional 3D models for the human musculoskeletal system,
    the methodology being demonstrated on the lower limb.

    Aim of the planned activities
    The planned activities for the above mentioned position can be
    roughly resumed as follow:
    1) to train the Early Stage Researcher (ESR) appointed by Laboratory
    of Medical Technology of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute about soft
    tissue (ligaments, muscles, tendons) behaviour and modelling;
    2) to supervise and collaborate with the ESR in carrying out the
    passive characterisation of soft tissue through mechanical testing;
    3) to collaborate with other partners of the RTN for the development
    of the numerical simulation methods, with reference to the collected
    experimental data;
    4) to hold lecturers both at the host institution and at the workshop

    Requirements
    The applicant must be an Experienced Researcher (please refer the
    criteria of the European Marie Curie Research and Training Network).
    Background in mechanical properties of soft tissues (ligaments,
    muscles, tendons) is an essential requirement.
    Previous experience in experimental mechanics is essential with
    specific practice in testing of soft tissues (ligaments, muscles,
    tendons)
    Fluently in written and spoken English.

    Additional information
    The criteria and provisions of the European Marie Curie Research and
