    The Department of Kinesiology and Health Science at Sacramento State is
    pleased to announce a vacancy for an Assistant Professor Tenure-Track
    Position in Kinesiology/Biomechanics beginning August 2009.

    California State University, Sacramento (SACRAMENTO STATE) invites
    applications from individuals interested in joining our dynamic and
    growing faculty. With a current student population in excess of 28,000,
    SACRAMENTO STATE, the capital University, is one of the larger campuses
    in the 23-campus California State University system, the largest system
    of higher education in the nation. The University is organized around
    seven colleges. There are approximately 1,700 faculty who provide
    programs of instruction leading towards bachelor's degrees in 60
    disciplines and master's degrees in 40 disciplines and one joint
    doctoral program.

    Education: Doctorate in Kinesiology/Biomechanics or closely related
    field. Individuals who are verified ABD at the time of application will
    be considered but degree must be completed by August 1, 2011.

    Required Qualifications: The applicant should have a strong academic
    background necessary to teach Kinesiology (Anatomical Kinesiology).

    Preferred Qualifications: Preferences will be given to applicants with
    a background in neuromuscular development, structural anatomy, and
    biomechanics. Preference will be given to applicants with successful
    university teaching experience and a record of research, grants, and
    scholarly activity. Applicants with experience working with diverse
    student populations and the ability to work with graduate students
    through thesis supervision will also be given preference. The ability
    to teach at the graduate level and knowledge of assessment/accreditation
    (ACSM) of exercise science programs are highly desirable.

    Assignment: The applicant will be required to teach undergraduate
    Kinesiology. The applicant may be asked to teach Biomechanics and other
    courses in the department based on departmental needs. The applicant may
    also have the opportunity to teach and develop courses at the graduate
    level. The successful candidate will also be required to supervise
    master's theses, advise students, conduct research and scholarly
    activities, serve on Department, College and University committees, be
    active in community service relevant to teaching and research, and work
    as a cooperative member of the faculty.

    Appointment: Probationary tenuretrack position at the Assistant
    Professor level in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science.
    Salary range: $49,692 - $62,640 (based on academic degree, teaching,
    scholarship, and professional experience).


    Application Procedure: Review of applications begins November 3rd, 2008
    and will continue until the position is filled. Interviews should take
    place late in the fall of 2008. The applicant must submit a letter of

    (unofficial copies accepted until invited for interview), the contact

    professional qualifications of the applicant, and a statement of
