This opening is for a motion capture lab and biomechanics technician.
The ideal candidate would have a Masters degree in mechanical or
biomedical engineering and have experience with motion capture data
acquisition and processing using Vicon Workstation, Visual3D, and
MATLAB. Experience with LifeMOD would also be a plus. The position will
require designing and building lab setups, creating Visual3D models,
designing and conducting validation studies, documentation, and data
collection/analysis. Publications as co-author are expected and
publications as lead author are also possible.
The Patient Safety Center is an offsite research center of the James A.
Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, Florida. We have two motion capture
labs (6-camera and 12-camera Vicon systems) with three in-ground force
plates each, Lokomat, Biodex, ActiveStep treadmill, and a fully-equipped
machine shop. We will be moving to a new facility in a few months and
this person would be instrumental in helping to restart all of our labs
in the new location.
This full-time position is GS10-equivalent (GS9 step 4) for almost
US$50K/year, plus full VA benefits. Yearly cost of living increases are
guaranteed and step level will increase after first and second year. US
citizens only are eligible to apply and we are unable to pay relocation
expenses. Interested candidates please contact me at the number listed
