  • Post-doc fellowship and engineer position

Applications are invited for two post doctoral research associate or
research engineer at the LBM CNRS biomechanics laboratory of Arts et Métiers
    ParisTech institute of technology.

    Description

The projects are both oriented towards the use of the EOS low dose biplanar
X-Ray system for patient specific geometric and mechanical modelling of the
    skeleton.

The EOS is an ultra low dose 2D/3D imager and offers a global view of the
entire body in weight bearing position. This technology is based upon a
patented particle detector technology for which Georges Charpak received the
    Nobel Prize in Physics (1992)

One position is oriented towards image processing and mathematical modelling
to reduce manual processing of the X-Rays for 3D reconstruction of various
    part of the skeleton.

The second is related to clinically dedicated biomechanical computer
simulation based on the geometry issued from the EOS system with a focus on
    the spine and thorax region.

These positions will be funded by grants from National Research Agency (ANR)
and regional “pôle de compétitivité” (MEDICEN), and will involve a
pluridisciplinary team including biomechanical and image processing
researchers, computer scientists, clinical and industrial partners.

    Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD in biomechanical, image processing or
mathematical modelling field. Excellent English communication skills in
reading and writing are required. Publishing, conference travel and
collaboration with medical colleagues are all an integral part of these
    positions.

For position 1, experience in medical images processing and 3D
reconstruction is necessary. A good theoretical background on statistical
methods and geometric models would be beneficial.

For position 2, Extensive experience in mesh generation and FE modelling of
non linear complex systems is required, either in statics or in dynamics.

Both positions require creative ability to invent novel approaches as well
as pragmatism for design of well working solutions

Funding will depend upon experience and will be based around the CNRS post
    doctoral pay scale.
