Rockhurst University invites applications for the position of Dean,
School of Graduate and Professional Studies. The position is open on
July 1, 2009. Rockhurst is one of 28 Jesuit colleges and universities
in the United States. Reflecting its Catholic and Jesuit roots,
Rockhurst seeks to develop men and women who will be leaders in service.
The University consists of 2300 students is located in the cultural and
artistic center of the racially and ethnically diverse Kansas City
metropolitan area
The School of Graduate and Professional Studies is comprised of graduate
programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Education,
Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. The school also houses a
number of undergraduate degree and certificate programs designed for
both traditional and non-traditional students. More information on the

Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean serves as
the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Graduate
and Professional Studies. Responsibilities include general
administrative functions, recruitment and development of faculty,
management of the budget, participating in recruitment/retention
activities with the Office of Admissions, assisting with the development
and implementation of the university strategic plan, oversight of
curricular and accreditation activities, assurance of assessment,
oversight of RU Institutional Review Board and representation of the
School to both internal and external constituents.
Qualified candidates will have :
* A commitment to the mission and philosophy of Jesuit education
in an ecumenical and inter-faith environment;
* An educational vision that embraces innovative programs and
delivery systems offered locally, nationally, and internationally;
* An ability to contribute to the advancement of students and
faculty in a diverse academic and civic community;
* A background in collegial governance with demonstrated
leadership in higher education, specifically in graduate programs;
* An exemplary record of teaching, scholarship, and service to
school and community;
* A familiarity with accreditation procedures for professional
programs;
* An earned doctorate.
