  • PhD studentships in Physical Activity Monitoring

    Dear all,

As part of a major expansion of the Functional Activity Monitoring Group here at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland we have four funded PhD studentships available. Please note that these opportunities are funded only for UK and EU nationals at present.

The PhD studentships will concentrate on the development of methods in the use of accelerometer devices to monitor physical activity. Our focus is on the use of a minimal device configuration to obtain the maximum amount of information possible, relevant to the description of physical activity. We are seeking applicants from a range of backgrounds including those with signal analysis, computing and experimental skills. Students will develop novel applications for accelerometer devices, extending the range of activities that might be characterised and validating developments in clinically relevant populations.

We have one Industrial CASE PhD studentship award funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in partnership with PAL Technologies Ltd (http://www.paltechnologies.co.uk/). This award is funded for three and a half years. We also have one PhD opportunities funded from within the Glasgow Research Partnership in Engineering (http://www.grpeng.acuk/). In addition there are two University PhD scholarships available.

You can find details of these positions at:
