The Department of Physical Therapy at California State University, Fresno
(Fresno State) has two nine month, full-time, tenure track faculty positions
available for 2009-2010 academic year. Fresno State Physical Therapy is a
well established program committed to APTA's Vision 2020 for doctoral
education. To overcome the challenge in the CSU system to offer a doctoral
degree, Fresno State recently implemented a 1 year joint DPT with the
University of California, San Francisco. Fresno State Physical Therapy
students enroll in the 2-3 year MPT followed by an additional 9 months, 34
semester units joint DPT with San Francisco. One of our open faculty

Clinical Education (ACCE). Opportunities exist for clinical research and
teaching in several areas, including, Adult Neuroscience with clinical
interventions, Clinical Cardiopulmonary/ Exercise Physiology, Pharmacology,
Pathophysiology, Clinical Pediatrics, or Advanced Orthopedics.
Opportunities for clinical practice also exist.

This is an excellent time to come to Fresno State, as the university
recently launched a multi-year campaign to enhance the overall excellence of
the university. A key priority for the university is doctoral education and
therefore resources are available for faculty and student research and
enhancing graduate education. The program at Fresno State is unique for
several reasons. First, the Gait, Balance, and Mobility Research and
Education Center was developed over ten years ago to provide unique research
and clinical opportunities for faculty and students and serves as a local
resource for the medical community working in the areas of gait, balance and
vestibular disorders. Second, the department is housed within the College of
Health and Human Services which has developed a number of interdisciplinary
research units that promote faculty and student engagement with the
community to address regional needs in health policy, disabilities, aging,
sports medicine and children. ( In addition, the
Human Performance Laboratory housed in the Department of Kinesiology is
available for faculty and students in our program.
