  • ISB Student Awards

    Student members of ISB are eligible for the following competitive grants
    awarded each year. In the year of the ISB Congress, a fourth category of
    award will be available to assist students attend and present at the ISB
    Congress.
    1) The Matching Dissertation Grant Program:
    There will be several competitive grants of $US2500 made for doctoral
    dissertation research. A condition is that the applicant will have a
    commitment from her/his institution or another source to provide a further
    matching $US2500 or equivalent. This program is applicable to those who
    are doctoral candidates and are seeking assistance with costs of their
    dissertation research.
    2) The International Travel Grant Program:
    In order to allow student members to travel abroad to experience science
    in other cultures, the ISB offered several grants of $US2500 for travel
    related to biomechanics research.
    3) The International Affiliate Development Grant Program:
    This grant of up to $US2500 is offered to student biomechanists from low
    income or restricted currency countries to enable them to spend time in an
    approved, established biomechanics laboratory or to attend a relevant,
    approved training course.
    4) The Congress Travel Grant Program:
    This grant is offered to help reduce the travel expenses to attend the
    XXII ISB Congress in Cape Town, South Africa in 2009 (
    http://www.isb2009.org). The ISB offers several travel grants of up to
    $US1000 to student members to assist in their travel to the Congress or to
    pay the registration fee if they can travel and who will be presenting
    their research results at the 2009 ISB Congress.
    Application forms and further details are available from the ISB website (
    www.isbweb.org). Applications are to be received by the end of November,
    2008. Notification to applicants will be by February 1, 2009.
