    PhD opportunity: Muscle Mechanics


    Location: Neuromuscular Mechanics Laboratory, Department of Biomedical
    Physiology and Kinesiology, Simon Fraser University

    (Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada)


    Job description: The project will be concentrated on theoretical and
    modeling studies to examine fundamental aspects of motor control and
    architectural design of muscles. This position is supported by funding
    from the NIH and is set within the Department of Biomedical Physiology
    and Kinesiology, Faculty of Science. The ideal candidate will be
    highly motivated and have an outstanding track record in previous
    undergraduate and/ or graduate work. The candidate must be fluent in
    written and spoken English. Desirable skills and attributes include,
    but are not limited to, the following:

    *Knowledge of neuromuscular physiology

    *Knowledge of mechanical systems analysis

    *Strong quantitative background with experience in computer programming

    *Publications in peer-reviewed journals


    Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience.


    Start date: Immediate - early 2009.
