  • Faculty Position at Shanghai Jiao Tong University

    A full-time, faculty position at the level of Associate Research Scientist is available in the Fall of 2009 (or earlier) at the Institute of Rehabilitation Engineering of the Med-X Research Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Shanghai, China, in the area of Biomedical Engineering, with an emphasis on Rehabilitation Engineering and Motor Prosthesis. The Med-X Research Institute is a recently established research center that promotes multidisciplinary solutions to health care problems through application of medical technologies. Its aim is to provide a vibrant environment for researchers to perform basic and applied work across medicine and engineering. One area of research and development is focused on Computational Medicine, Rehabilitation Engineering, and Neural Engineering. The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, and/or Neurophysiology, and should be near completion of, or have completed his/her post-doctoral training. A candidate with a strong background in neuromuscular system is preferred. Experience in biomechanical modeling and programming in C++, and MATLAB are required. The candidate is expected to perform both experimental work and computational analysis, and to develop an independent research program on motor control and/or neural prosthesis.
