POSITION TITLE: Sport Technologist
JOB NO: PS121108-OO
DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Performance Services/Team & Technical
SUMMARY:
Deliver services, technology research, applied solution development and data
analysis/management, with focus on data acquisition, sport performance
analysis, video analysis technology, real-time feedback, and advancing
technologies. Foster a collaborative effort with the Performance Services
Division's staff to address the issues, advancements, and parameters of
Olympic sport performance. Through team efforts with other integrated
service provision staff, collectively pursue the objectives to develop a
world class program in sport science services, research and development of
applied technologies, and delivery of advanced educational material for
coaches' education and sport performance analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Service
1. Serve as the Team & Technical Sportfolio performance technology
expert.
2. Work with other sport performance service providers (psychology,
biomechanics, physiology, strength and conditioning, and nutrition) to
deliver integrated and applied services.
3. Assist with the design, validation, and implementation of sport
performance analysis and feedback solutions.
4. Assist with and perform service delivery, applied sport research
activities, and testing of athletes as part of Sportfolio programs.
5. Assist with testing, set-up, calibration, and system verification of
performance analysis and service systems.
Education
1. Assist with the development and delivery of performance technology
educational content for coaching education programs, Sportfolio education,
and internet-based applications.
Teamwork
1. Serve as a team member on the Team & Technical Sportfolio Team.
2. Serve as a team member on the Performance Technology Team.
3. Foster professional relationships with National Sport Federation
personnel.
4. Assist with coordination, organization and acquisition of support
resources, service and equipment.
Research & Development
1. Research emerging technologies and programs for sport performance
and scientific needs.
2. Stay current with technologies, coaching tools, and testing
processes for performance analysis.
3. Serve as team member on technology applications to USOC member
organizations.
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT:
· Standard office equipment.
· Technical equipment including computer systems, software analysis
tools, and commercial video equipment.
CONDITIONS: Office environment; Multi-building complex; Light to medium
lifting; Travel required; Indoor and outdoor settings
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS in biomechanics, computer programming, exercise
physiology/kinesiology or related field
· Experience with PC and web environment
· Experience in video technologies, including connectivity, formats,
and equipment
· Good working knowledge of Internet search tools
· Familiarity of applied sciences including: computers,
biomechanics, physics, physiology, and basic engineering
· Good interpretive skills between technology and sport performance
· Competitive sport background as an athlete and/or coach
