  • Whitaker Fellowships & Scholarships - Deadline Extended to Feb 23!

    Dear Colleagues,

The Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program is happy to
announce that, due to the volume of applications, the deadline has been
    extended by a month!

The new application deadline is February 23, 2009.

    www.whitaker.org

    Graduating senior through recent Post-Docs

What: Grant for research, study, or other BME-related activity
    overseas
Fellows (non-Post-Docs) are funded for 1 year
Scholars (Post-Docs) are funded for as little as up to 2 years

Where: Any country overseas at an institution willing to host the
    applicant

When: Deadline is February 23, 2009

    31, 2010

How: For all details, including FAQs and the online application,
    visit our website
    http://www.whitaker.org/

Why: There are many reasons to participate:
    - The ideal project mentor for a student or Post-Doc's work is
    at an institution abroad.
    - An excellent academic program, not offered in the US, is at an
    institution in another country.
    - An NGO relevant to a student is doing important work in
    another country.
    - US University departments can strengthen ties with overseas
    labs, without cost.
    - Most importantly, an alum of the Whitaker Program has an
alumni network of fellow world-class bioengineers with a global
    perspective.

    Other Information:
The Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program was created by
The Whitaker Foundation and the Institute of International Education
(IIE) in 2005, with the goal of increasing international collaboration
among emerging leaders in the field of biomedical engineering.

The Foundation closed in 2006, and IIE continues to administer the
program in accordance with The Foundation's wishes. The Whitaker
International Program is overseen by a Steering Committee appointed by
The Whitaker Foundation and IIE. The Whitaker Program is expected to
continue providing grants to emerging leaders in BME until approximately
    2020.

If you have any questions about the Whitaker Program, the application
process, or the new February 23rd deadline, please feel free to contact
    us.

    Best regards,

    Vijay
