  • Post-doc at the University of Illinois at Chicago

The Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Illinois
at Chicago is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join a
project focused on the biomechanics of bone adaptation in young women. We
are developing methods to quantify changes in bone morphology and strength
in humans due to well controlled mechanical forces, and to compare the
remodeling kinetics in human bone to that of well established animal
models. The long-term goal is to develop load-based interventions to
improve bone strength in older women. The project involves CT and microCT
imaging, finite element analysis, mechanical testing, and working with
human subjects. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in
obtaining independent research funding, such as an NIH-funded postdoctoral
    fellowship.

    Qualifications:
    - Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a closely related field
    - excellent written and oral English language communication skills
    - strong interpersonal skills
    - an interest in bone adaptation and upper extremity biomechanics
    - prior experience with mechanical testing, finite element modeling and/or
    computer programming is highly desirable

To apply: Qualified applicants should send their CV and a list of three
references to Prof. Karen Troy at klreed@uic.edu. Applicants who will be
attending the Annual meeting of the Orthopaedic Research Society in Las
Vegas may contact Karen to schedule an interview at the ORS.
