Greetings,
The 14th Annual Meeting of the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society
(GCMAS 2009 - Denver) begins just 3 weeks from today, so if you haven’t yet
registered, please do so as soon as you can. The online registration will
remain open until March 2nd, and after that date you will only be able to
register at the conference. Browse to: www.gcmas2009.org for complete
conference information.
We’ve updated the detailed program and information for authors and poster
presenters, and have some other details. The direct link to the
registration site is below:

The Program Committee have put together an exciting program with 69 podium
presentations, 93 posters, and 3 tutorials, symposia, sunrise sessions and
keynote addresses. We’re excited about the scope and quality of the papers
accepted for the program, with a great mix of technical and clinical
content.
We’re also very enthusiastic about this year’s extra curricular activities
in the Mile High City. Thursday offers 3 tours starting immediately after
the completion of the last session around 2:45pm. The first is a private
guided tour of the Denver Art Museum hosted by Nancy Denniston and the
museum staff, followed by wine and cheese in the museum café. The DAM is a
short 6 block walk from the hotel through the downtown retail district.
There are just 6 spots left for this tour so please sign up soon. More
information about the current collection and this unique Denver landmark can
be found at http://www.denverartmuseum.org.
Next, there is a bus tour of the foothills west of Denver, stopping at the
Coors Brewery in Golden, CO and the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater in
Morrison, CO. Nessie Haideri, Joanne Valvano, and Frank Chang will be your
hosts as you take the special VIP tour of these two venues, with libations
at each location. Follow these links to read more about these historic
sites:

The last tour for Thursday afternoon is a bus tour of Children’s Hospital
and the Center for Gait and Movement Analysis (CGMA), the host lab for this
meeting. This tour is already sold out. Sorry.
Perhaps the signature event this year in terms of extra curricular
activities (aside from the night life in downtown Denver just around the
hotel) is Saturday after the conclusion of the conference, when 50 lucky
soles will ride the famous Ski Train to Winter Park, CO to learn about the
adaptive skiing program at the National Sports Center for the Disabled
(NSCD) at the Winter Park Ski Resort. We have a private car that will leave
from Denver’s downtown Union Station at 7:15am for the 2:15 minute trip to
the resort. During the train ride food and beverages will be served, and we
will have a few short presentations introducing adaptive skiing techniques
and the history of NSCD, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy this
picturesque train ride through the eastern Rocky Mountains. Once you arrive
at the resort there will be activities for skiers and non-skiers to learn
more about NSCD, or just enjoy the mountain. Just 12 more seats are
available so hurry if you want to enjoy this unique event. Here’s more
information about the Ski Train and NSCD:

If you haven’t booked your hotel, more rooms have been made available at the
conference rate of $195+tax. The hotel is in the heart of Downtown Denver
and is close to all area activities either walking or using public
transportation; a great way to explore the city.
